Ian Gibson

Ian Gibson was brought up in Gosport, Hampshire and studied biology, achieving a degree in Zoology at Reading University.  He planned a career in illustration and took a diploma in Graphics at Portsmouth College of Art.  He found however that his panitings of animal subjects and local scenes were proving popular so he concentrated on this work, building up a business in paintings and prints.  He exhibits his work in Solent area galleries and also in the Cotswolds and his paintings and prints are in many private collections.

Ian has developed his skills further increasing detailed naturalistic paintings of invented scenes.  Initially creating visualisations of forthcoming property developments for building companies this had led to recreating scenes from the past eg, trains and buildings which are long gone.  He is also interested in creating imaginary surreal landscapes which defy gravity and common sense.
